Kingston, Jamaica – Jamaican Police Stage Sick-out: reports are in that police across Jamaica staged a sick-out on Saturday, December 23. This sick-out will continue tomorrow, in the height of the Christmas celebrations.
Mckoy’s News received information that hundreds of police men and police women across the island have formed this protest, badly affecting the Corporate Areas and some rural areas.
The Police Federation of the Jamaica Constabulary Force and the government are locked in wage contact negotiations.
The government offered the police a 6% increase over the negotiated two-year contact (2017-2019) period, which was rejected.
The Federation said it has written to Prime Minister Andrew Holness to intervene in the wage negotiation between the Federation and the Ministry of Finance.
