Jamaica Records 1300 Murders Since Start of the Year

Jamaica (McKoy’s News) Jamaica Records 1300 Murders: Recent statistics from the police reveal that more than 1,300 persons have been murdered since the start of the year.

This is 270 more than the corresponding period last year which shows a 26% increase.

Over this weekend, several murders took place in Manchester and St James.

Eleven persons were murdered between Saturday and early this morning.

Between October 1 and 22, over 100 persons have been murdered.

Based on recent statistics, the country is averaging 150 murders per month over the past 5 months.

August has had 167 homicides; the highest recorded since January this year.

Since the start of the year, St James has had 248 murders, Westmoreland 121, Clarendon 133 and St Andrew South 129.

Kingston Western; which includes Denham Town; the second Zone of Special Operations, has had 77 murders, St Catherine North 106 and St Catherine South 87.
