Jamaica News, February 28, 2018 – Irwin Meadows Residents Without Water
St James, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Residents of Irwin Meadows in St. James are disgruntled over what they say is an unconscionable act of Can-Cara, the company that supplies water in their community.
The disgruntled residents say they have been without water from last Wednesday, February 14 and to date, no one has come to their assistance.
The residents say they received a letter from Joseph Lincoln, C.E.O. of Can-Cara Development Limited, dated January 19, informing them that the water pump was burnt and would be replaced as soon as possible.
“Mr. Lincoln said in a note that the pump won’t be ready until the next 3-4 weeks they promise to truck water in the scheme but unfortunately not. All containers have been out from last week but no water, they keep on promising us water but none all now. Last year this same time the pump they av to pump water burn up and they didn’t buy a new one. Cancara is getting out of control, I bet if it was NWC had the scheme this wouldn’t happen. They said it’s 3-4 weeks before the pump is up and running again but no water is being sent out to us as promised they would truck us water,“ a resident told McKoy’s News.
They are now appealing to the relevant authorities to address this matter quickly, as it has made it impossible for them to function without this commodity for such a long period of time.
