Iphone Thief to Return to Court for Plea and Case Management Hearing

Jamaica News: Romario Broughton, the St. James man who allegedly stole an iphone from a Montego Bay business establishment, is to return to the St. James Parish Court on June 13 for a plea and case management hearing.

The 21-year-old Green Pond, St. James resident received the hearing date when he appeared before presiding judge Sandria Wong-Small Thursday morning, at which time his bail was extended.

Allegations are that on October 3, 2018 around 3:15 p.m., Broughton went to a Montego Bay business establishment on Market Street and requested to see an iPhone 6 mobile phone that was being displayed. He also requested to see an iPhone 6 plus and requested the cost for that phone for which he was told.

He left to withdraw the money and upon his return, he was handed the phone again to look at it. He was also given a discount upon his request.

The agent was assisting another customer when Broughton dashed out of the store with the iPhone 6 plus. He was chased by the customer service representative who was later joined by the police who gave chase.

The police captured him on Church Street with the phone in his possession, which was later identified by the owner.

He was arrested and charged with larceny by trick.
