ST. THOMAS NEWS: Mckoy’s news has learned that 15 persons including an infant were injured in a motor vehicle accident in Yallahs St. Thomas on Friday.
At about 2 pm, a man reportedly lost control of the station wagon he was operating and collided with a bus loaded with passengers traveling in the opposite direction.
The operator of the motor car is said to be a security guard and is reportedly responsible for the collision said a police officer from the St Thomas police station.
It was also reported that five persons were passengers in the motor car while the others were passengers from the bus. At least 10 of the injured altogether were considered to be in serious condition and rushed to the hospital.
The Road Safety Department in the Ministry of Transportation and Mining reported that a total of 303 fatal crashes across the island were recorded with a total of 343 fatalities up to the beginning of December 2018. Excessive speeding, carelessness and pedestrian errors were contributory factors leading to these accidents.
