A St. James man who reportedly accepted over J$100,000 from a woman to provide her with overseas employment and failed to honour his obligation has been freed.
Kehane Morgan, who was facing a charge of obtaining money by false pretense, made a brief appearance before the St. James Parish Court on Wednesday.
The prosecution offered no further evidence because the complainant indicated to the court that she was no longer interested in pursuing the case, having received full restitution.
Sometime between August and September 2018, Morgan reportedly entered into an arrangement with the complainant after he told her he could provide her with employment in the United States. She later paid him J$135,500.
The woman never heard from Morgan after paying him the money and she never left for the United States.
As a result, she filed a complaint to the police and Morgan was arrested and charged.
