Illegal Firearm Seized During Gun Salute at Funeral in St Andrew

Jamaica Crime News: A 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, along with several rounds of ammunition, were seized by the police following an alleged gun salute by armed men who were at a funeral proceedings at McKinley Crescent, Kingston 11 on Sunday July 8th.

Reports by the Hunts Bay Police are that, shortly after 2:30 pm on Sunday, they were alerted that gunshots were being fired in the direction where a funeral proceedings was in progress on McKinley Crescent.

The police rushed to the area and upon arrival they saw two men running from a group of people. The lawmen gave chase and the men ran into a premises along Wint Road. The gunmen then managed to elude the lawmen behind several buildings.

The police then carried out a search of some abandoned building which led to the seizure of a 9mm semi-automatic pistol loaded with five live 9mm rounds. No one was arrested during the seizure.
