Iberostar Resort Security Manager Held with Illegal Firearm and Ammunition After High Speed Chase with Cops, in Mobay

Latest Jamaica News, Montego Bay (Mckoy’s News): Iberostar Resort Security Manager Held with Illegal Firearm Thirty-seven-year-old Colynton Canute Campbell, Security Manager employed to Ibero Star Resort and Spa in Rose Hall, St James, was arrested by the police earlier this week, following a high-speed chase in the Coral Gardens upscale community, which ended in the seizure of an illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition.

Reports by the police are that approximately 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, officers were on vehicular spot check duties along Sugar Mill Road in Montego Bay, when they signaled the driver of a white BMW to stop.

The driver complied and upon being ordered to step from the heavily tinted vehicle, he immediately sped away. His actions resulted in a high-speed chase between the unknown driver and the police, which lasted close to an hour.

The driver was almost caught when he pulled up at the Blue Diamond Shopping Centre stoplight intersection, but on seeing the police service vehicle pulling in front of him he immediately broke the one-way and sped up the roadway into Coral Gardens community.

The high-speed chase continued and the officer called for back-up. With the assistant of other service vehicles they managed to intercept the BMW and ordered the drive to again step from the vehicle. It took the officer over half hour to get the driver from the car who later turned out to be Campbell.

He was taken into custody and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of Black Taurus pistol under the driver’s seat, fitted with a magazine containing 12 live rounds.

Further search of the vehicle led to another magazine containing 13 live 9mm cartridges.

Campbell who resides in the upscale community of Rhyne Park in Rosehall, was then brought to his office on the hotel compound, and a search of the office resulted in further seizure of 21 live 9mm cartridges.

He was arrested by the police who are presently carrying out an investigation into the seizure.
