Jamaica (McKoy’s News)- HECOIN NOW OFFERING ONLINE COURSES: Health, Education and Counselling Institute/HECOIN; the international flagship institution, will roll out ONLINE programmes come next month.
President and Chief Executive Officer at HECOIN Dr Colin O Jarrett made the declaration recently as he informed that his institution of close to 30 years must position itself at the cutting edge to cater to the needs of prospective students locally and overseas. The programmes at HECOIN are internationally recognized through the prestigious London-based institutions: OTHM Qualifications and London School of Marketing/LSM. Dr Jarrett was quick to point out that HECOIN is the only institution in the World offering OTHM Qualifications in fifteen subject areas which is a milestone accomplishment. He further informed that HECOIN is the only institution in Jamaica and three Caribbean countries with the exclusive license to offer LSM degree programmes.
HOW WILL THE PROGRAMME BE ADMINISTERED
Dr Jarrett says his organization has already secured the services of Ultimate Experience Online Radio Station in Kingston, Jamaica to transmit the learning experiences which has audio and visual compatibility. Once students are registered in the programme, they will be able to watch live classroom delivery along with practical demonstration supported by youtube suggested videos/presentations. If a student has a question to be asked during the presentation, the student will have access to messenger on the website along with recording voice which will make it possible for the tutor to hear or read and then answer questions. The programme is available to male and female, 17-100 yrs with/without CSEC passes.
PRACTICUM/WORK EXPERIENCE
For practicum experience, Dr Jarrett says a number of health facilities along with the hospitality industry are already partners with HECOIN so work experience will not pose a problem locally. For persons overseas, the student would be asked to follow a “standards sheet” to select a site and then contact would be made by HECOIN to confirm the facility to ensure it meets local and international standards. An Assessor would also be identified in that country to conduct assessment and/or examinations.

TUITION FEE PAYMENTS
Dr Jarrett has indicated that tuition fees can be paid using PAYMASTER, National Commercial Bank/NCB or PAYPAL.
HECOIN’S TRACK RECORD
HECOIN has received 100% passes in all external examinations in health, business and skills training and is the oldest practical nursing school in Jamaica. The curriculum for practical nurses in Jamaica was written by its late Founding Director Dr Clover Jarrett.
ONLINE PROGRAMMES AVAILABLE
The programmes taking on ONLINE training include OTHM International Certificate in HouseKeeping Management Services, Food and Beverage Services, Customer Care Management and Security Management.
OTHM International Diplomas will include Home Health Aide, CareGiving, AuPair, Child Care, Elderly Care/Practical Nursing, Phlebotomy Technician and Emergency Medical Technician/EMT.
LSM International Degrees include the two BAs and five MAs. Classes are set to commence November 27, 2017.
