Jamaica Crime News, St Thomas: A 33-year-old Haulage contractor, who was taken into custody on Monday, June 24, in connection with the seizure of ganja estimated with a street value of $15-million, in the parish of St Thomas, is presently in police custody.
Investigators say they have withheld the identity of the accused, who hails from Lyssons, also in St Thomas.
Reports are that on Monday afternoon, members of a joint military team was carrying out an operation along sections of the roadway in Lyssons, when they intercepted a Hyundai truck, which was being driven by the accused.
A search of the truck led to the discovery of sixty knitted bags, which all contained compressed ganja. The drug was seized, and the accused taken into custody.
