St James, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – St James Checkpoints: the State of Emergency operating in the parish of St James, Jamaica is expended until May, and on Saturday the joint security forces created checkpoints on routes leading from St James in to Hanover in which they carried out offensive search operations on all vehicles travelling by that route. This process resulted in a massive traffic pile up for miles.
The operation saw the security teams of police and soldier going through each and every vehicle as if with a “fine tooth comb,” with left hundreds of motorist hampered and detailed to get to their destinations.
Tourist travelling from the airport in Montego to various resorts were set back for hours as they found themselves pinned in traffic which ran from Great River in Hanover to as far back as Spring Garden in St James, which is almost five miles from the security checkpoint.
Durig the several motorists were issued with traffic tickets and several motor vehicles seized for breaches of the Road Traffic Act.
