Hanover, Jamaica (Mckoy’s New) – Hanover Records 60 Murders:  At the end of the year on December 31, 2017, the murder count in the parish of Hanover climbed to 60 and this amount is fifteen more persons being killed comparing to the 45 that were murdered in 2016.

The Hanover police have also reported that for 2017, most persons were killed in the parish than the figure recorded in previous years and since the start of 2018 they have beefed up police presence and patrols in various communities.

The parish of Hanover also recorded one of Jamaica’s last murders in the year 2017 and this was the stabbing death of a popular mechanic in the community of Pond Side on the night of Friday, December 29, 2017.

The police reported that shortly after 8:00 p.m., on Friday the victim who is known as Pablo and the accused was at a section of the Pond Side community when an argument developed between them.

The accused reportedly brandished a knife which he used to stab the mechanic in the upper body.

The wounded man was transported to the Noel Holmes Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The accused has since been taken into custody.

Hanover Records 60 Murders: in the meanwhile, the Hanover police have indicated that in this New Year, they will be placing full focus in the Lucea Policing areas which recorded the most murders in the parish along with the areas such as Green Island and Kingsvale.
