Hanover Policeman Facing Assault Charges Granted $100,000 Bail

Latest Jamaica News, Hanover (McKoy’s News): A Hanover Police officer who was charged on Tuesday by the Inspectorate of Professional Standard Oversight Bureau, was granted bail in the sum of $100,000 when he appeared before the Hanover Parish Court, in Lucea.

Constable Jafari Pearson, was charged with occasioning actual bodily harm, following a ruling by the Director of Public prosecution, and a recommendation from the Independent Commission of Investigation.

He was granted bail with sureties and ordered not to interfere with the witness.

The charges stemmed from an incident at the Lucea lock-up in 2014, where the Constable severely beat a detainee.

He is to return to court on August 20.
