One investigator told our news team that they expect to make a early breakthrough, as they have gotten some leads which have proven very successful towards their investigations.

The men who were killed have been identified as 53-year-old, Kenneth Heman, otherwise called “Sams”,  a shop keeper and his 52-year-old nephew Frank Birch, other called “Fanso” a Mason, both of Cold Spring.

Reports by the Lucea police are that about 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Heman and other family members were at their home in Cold Spring, when he got news that his nephew Frank, had gotten drunk and was behaving in a disorderly manner, at a shop in close proximity to their house.

Heman got out of bed, walked to the location and convinced his nephew to come home with him.
While on their way back to their home, they were ambushed by a group of armed men, who opened fire hitting Birch multiple times to his upper body.

Heman upon seeing that his nephew had been shot, ran from the scene, passing his own house, but he was chased by the gunmen, who caught up with him and shot him multiple times.

The explosions alerted other family members and residents in the community, who rushed to the location. Upon their arrival, Heman and Birch were found lying in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds to their upper bodies.

The police were summoned and upon arrival, the scene was processed and both victims were transported to the Noel Holmes Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
