He has been identified as Nevar Whitter, otherwise called “Naggle Z”, labourer of Camp Road also in Hopewell.

Reports by the Sandy Bay police are that about 8:15 p.m. on Monday, Whitter was among a group of men who were playing dominoes outside a shop, located at the intersection of Bamboo Drive, Zion Lane and Choco Lane.

Minutes later a man posing as a customer walked over and ordered a cigarette from the shopkeeper who was also watching the game. While the shopkeeper went inside the shop to get the cigarette, the man brandished a handgun and placed it to Whitter’s head, firing one shot. Whitter then fell to the ground in a pool of blood and the gunman made his escape on foot.

The Sandy Bay police were called and upon arrival, the victim was transported to the Noel Holmes hospital where he was pronounced dead.
