Hanover, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – Hanover Couple Murdered: A common-law couple was shot and killed by unknown assailants at their home in Hopewell, Hanover on Friday night.

The victims have been identified as 48-year-old Annette Smith and her common-law husband 54- year-old Weston Garvey, shopkeeper, both of Camp Road in Hopewell, Hanover.

Reports are that about 8:30 pm on Friday, residents in Camp Road alerted the police after gunmen came to the area and fired a barrage of gunshots.

When the officers arrived, the gunmen were not seen, however, the police carried out several raids at various houses in the area and took several men into custody.

About 8:30 am residents noticed that Garvey did not open his shop as he usually does and they went to the house to investigate.

They later stumbled upon the bodies on the floor of the couple’s unfinished concrete dwelling house.

Both Smith and Garvey were seen lying on their backs in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds.

The police were again alerted and upon arrival, the scene was processed and the victims’ body pronounced dead at the hospital.
