St Elizabeth, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Haitian High Powered Rifle: Two St Catherine residents have been arrested and charged for last week’s seizure of a high-powered rifle, a telescope and a quantity of assorted rounds during a police operation in St Elizabeth.
The rifle had Haitian registration.
The accused have been identified as 32-year-old Gayeml Francis, who is of a Greater Portmore address, and 18-year-old unemployed Alayiah Johnson of an Old Braeton address.
They are to appear in the St Elizabeth Parish Court later this week to answer to charges of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
Reports are that members of the Narcotics Division were carrying out an operation in Goshen, St Elizabeth when they signalled a motorcar to stop.
During a search of the vehicle, a Galil high-powered rifle, a number of assorted rounds and a telescope, frequently used for sniping, were found.
