Jamaica Crime News, Kingston: Detectives attached to the Inspectorate of Constabulary ( IOCL) and investigators from the Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM), have reported that a full investigation is now being launched surrounding the shooting and wounding of an alleged gunman, and the seizure of an AR-15 assault rifle along with a handgun, on Kingston on Saturday, September 15.
The identity of the gunman who is presently at hospital in serious condition is being withheld pending further investigations.
Reports by the Olympic Gardens police are that on Saturday night, a team of officers were carrying out patrols in sections of Morris Drive, Olympic Gardens in Kingston 11 when they came under heavy gunfire from a group of armed men.
The fire was returned, during what time the men were seen running in various directions.
Following a search of the area, the lawmen discovered the gunman who was suffering from gunshot wounds. The two weapons, an AR-15 assault rifle, containing nineteen 5.56 cartridges, and a Magnum revolver, and four 9mm rounds were seized.
