One man was shot and killed and another shot and injured, immediately before he disarmed a gunman in Reach District in Portland on Monday, July 30th.
The police have reported that the gunman and the illegal weapon have since been handed over to the police.
The deceased has been identified as Ryan Smith Gunman Caught After Killing and Injuring another Man in Portland, 28-year-old, laborer also of Reach district. Reports by the Port Antonio police are that about 4:15 pm on Monday, Smith and the other man were among a group of patrons at a bar in Reach district.
Minutes later, the man who posed as a customer walked into the establishment and ordered a cigarette. Immediately as he was being served, the man brandished a handgun and open fire on both men.
Both men received gunshots to their upper bodies. Smith fell to the ground, but the other wounded man grabbed hold of the gunman and wrestled the firearm from him.
He then held him at gunpoint until the police arrived. Upon arrival of the lawmen, the gunman and a Berretta 9mm semi-automatic pistol, loaded with twenty-one live rounds, were handed over.
Both wounded men were transported to a hospital where Smith was pronounced dead and the other man admitted in a stable condition.
