Gunman Being Sought for Shooting Taxi Operator in St Andrew

Jamaica Crime News, St Andrew: The police in St Andrew have now launched a manhunt for a man who shot and killed a taxi operator in Duhaney Park on Tuesday morning.

The dead taxi operator has been identified as, David Harris,  otherwise called “Bucktu” 39-year-old of the said address.

Reports by the police are that shortly after 11:30 am on Tuesday, Harris was sitting in his taxi motor car along a section of the Swift River main road, when an argument developed between him and the man who is now being sought.

It is further reported that the man walked away and returned with a handgun.  He fired several shots hitting Harris to his upper body before running from the scene.

The wounded taxi man jumped into his car and attempted to drive himself to hospital but crashed a short distance away.

The police were summoned and upon arrival, Harris was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators are now asking members of the public for their assistance in getting the identity of the gunman.

Harris is one of many taxi operator to be killed throughout Jamaica since the start of the year.
