Jamaica News, Hanover – Tragic Hopewell Accident: See photos of the fatal accident which occurred in the vicinity of the Twin Palms service Station in Hopewell, Hanover.
Victims of the accident are Phillip Jones who was the driver of the ill-fated motor car, Nicholas French, Joseph Brown and Norman Merson.
The fifth victim who is a female still remains unidentified. All five victims are said to be from the community of Green Pond in the parish of St James.
Two other person which includes a male and a female are presently at hospital in critical condition.
Reports by the Sandy Bay Traffic police are that about 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, the silver Toyota Corolla motor car “King Fish” registered 4731HW was being driven by Jones from the directions of Negril towards Montego Bay, with the three other male and the female on board.
On reaching a section of the Orchard main road in the vicinity of the Hopewell Service Station, Jones reportedly lost control of the vehicle which collided into another white station wagon Toyota Corolla motor car registered 9996 GF and which was travelling in the opposite direction.
Jones and all four occupants of the silver Toyota sustained head and body injuries and died on the spot.
Two other persons, including a female who were travelling in the white Corolla also sustained injuries and were rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where they were admitted in serious condition.
The police and fire department were summoned and upon arrival on the scene, it took them several hours to clear the debris from the roadway and also to remove all the victims from the wreckage of the ill-fated vehicles.
