Late Governor General’s Wife, Ivy Cooke Died at 100

Montego Bay, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – Ivy Cooke Died: Prime Minister Andrew Holness has expressed regret at the passing of The Most Honourable Ivy Cooke, wife of former Governor General, Sir Howard Cooke.

Mrs. Cooke died this morning at the Andrews Memorial Hospital; she was 100-year-old.

The Prime Minister hailed Lady Cooke as an outstanding educator who held leadership positions in the education field.

She was passionate about education, child development and guidance counselling.

In extending sympathies to Lady Cooke’s family, Mr. Holness said he extends most sincere apologies to her family and friends during this difficult time.

Lady Cooke is survived by two sons:  Justice Howard Fitz-Arthur Cooke and Richard Washington McDermott Cooke, hotelier and daughter Audrey Faith Cooke, a Consultant in International Affairs.

Mrs. Cooke was born June 27, 1916, and married Howard Cooke in July 1939 and served with him at Kings House from 1991 to 2006.
