Jamaica has imposed travel restrictions on eight African countries effective today, November 27.
The countries are Botswana, Eswatini (formerly Swaziland), Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
These countries have travel restrictions imposed on them as the new covid-19 variant SARS- Cov-2, formally known as B.1.1.529, is present in their county.
The government has banned persons who are not citizens from entering the country who have travelled to these places with the last 14 days.
However, they will allow Jamaicans who have visited these countries in the last 14 days, but they will be mandated to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival into the country.
