Jamaica News: The Government has committed another $350 million to make the police more mobile.

The funds will be spent throughout this fiscal year and will bolster a fleet that recently added 60 cars, 44 pick ups and 90 bikes.

Dr Horace Chang said “the acquisition of new and specialized vehicles is part of the process of transformation and modernization of the police force. We intend to equip police officers with fit for purpose police vehicles. The government of Jamaica is fully committed to supporting the Commissioner of Police in his efforts to transform the JCF into a modern police service.”

Since the failed used car deal under Robert Montague, the government has been under increased pressure to deliver reliable motor vehicles to the officers, especially those in crime hot spots.
