Jamaica News, March 31, 2018 – Westmoreland Bike Taxi Operator Murdered
Westmoreland, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – A motorcycle taxi operator was shot and killed and another man shot and injured as gunmen shot-up a group of men in the Grange Hill area of the parish of Westmoreland, on Good Friday morning.
The victim has been identified as Jermaine Godfrey otherwise called Blacks, 25-year-old bike taxi operator of Jerusalem Mountain, also in Grange Hill, Westmoreland. The injured man is identified as a 48-year-old farmer of the said address.
Reports by the police are that shortly after 12:45 p.m., on Friday, March 30, Godfrey and the other man were standing among a group of men at a Plaza in the Grange Hill square. Two gunmen then walked up to them and brandished handguns and opened fire at the crowd. The crowd ran in various directions while the gunmen made their escape on foot in the area.
The police were summoned and during a search of the area, Godfrey and the other man were discovered suffering from gunshot wounds.
They were both transported to the Savanna la Mar Hospital where Godfrey was pronounced dead and the other man admitted in critical condition.
