Mark Golding, MP for South St Andrew has indicated he will enter the race to lead the People’s National Party (PNP).
The South St Andrew MP tweeted Tuesday morning: “I have decided that the building of the Party is paramount.”
Since Dr. Peter Phillips resigned as President after the September 3 Elections, analysts and commentators have said that Mr. Golding is the best candidate among the 14 MPs on the Opposition’s benches. However, he was considered reluctant to offer himself for the race.
Later this month, the National Executive council of the PNP is expected to give details of arrangements for a Special delegates conference to replace Dr. Phillips who has been asked by the Party to hold on, until a vote is arranged.
