Montego Bay, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Gold Ring Snatcher Remanded: A St. James man accused of robbing a woman of her gold ring and damaging her gold chain was ordered remanded when he appeared in the St. James Parish Court on Wednesday.
Damion Wooliston, 33, of Adelphi, St. James, is facing charges of robbery with violence and malicious destruction of property.
Particulars of the allegations were not told the court in details but it was revealed that the gold ring valued US$600 and that Wooliston also damaged the woman’s gold chain during the incident.
The prosecution objected to bail on Wednesday on the basis that Wooliston had been before the court for similar offences and had also been convicted. The likelihood of him re-offending was also a concern.
Based on what the prosecution said, Judge Wong-Small requested Wooliston’s criminal records for the purpose of a bail application on his next court date.
The matter was subsequently set for mention on August 8 and Wooliston was remanded.
