Los Angeles, USA (McN) – Pop singer and human rights awardee Katy Perry spoke candidly to her audience about expelling ‘gay spirit’ by praying it away.
The topic of homosexuality and ‘gay spirit ‘ was welcomed at the Human Rights Campaign gala in Los Angeles, where pop singer Katy Perry gave her testimony. The ‘I kissed a Girl and I liked it’ singer was awarded, during her acceptance speech she spoke of being raised in a Christian home with her mother and father, both Pentecostal ministers of religion.
She told the audience about her gay spirit feelings for girls when she was younger but would pray the gay spirit away at her Jesus camp. As she got older, she realized it was her true feelings and became more comfortable accepting herself.
The singer is a proud and dedicated supporter of the LGBT community and is very much grateful for the friends who stood by her in support of accepting who she was.
“It’s been a long road for me, and I’m sure for many out there,” she added “I know it doesn’t feel safe to live out who you are, but for me, I would not choose another road.”
The Jesus Camp she attend in her younger years, may very well be an eye opener for her to understand the gay spirit was a mere ideology and not unnatural force or entity possessing her body.
