Jamaica News: Motorists will finally get a reprieve at the pumps starting today.
Petrojam says gas prices are to decrease by $0.35. So E-10 87 will sell for $137.16 per litre and a litre of E-10 90 will sell for $139.99 per litre.
Automotive diesel oil will go down by $0.03 per litre to sell for $136.50.
Incidentally the decreases follow a week of outrage from Jamaicans, including on social media about the sharp increases being felt at the pumps. Some persons stated that many retailers were selling fuel for between $160-$190 per litre.
Petrojam and government leaders were however quick to assure the public the scandal at the state owned refinery, where funds were allegedly misused by management, had nothing to do with the rising prices and instead reminded the public that prices are set based on how the commodity is purchased from overseas suppliers.
