Jamaica News: St Andrew South, Clarendon and Westmoreland are now the country’s bloodiest parts.
The unenviable tag was once held by St James and St Catherine North however in the last 8 months a new trend has emerged with the States of Emergency of Zones of Special Operations seemingly shaking the murder capital tags off those police divisions.
According to Jamaica Constabulary Force crime statistics for January 1 to August 11, St Andrew South recorded 94 homicides compared to 84 last year.
Clarendon and Westmoreland are tied for second with 86 murders each.
Incidentally murders in both Clarendon and Westmoreland have declined by 5 murders and a single homicide respectively when compared to the same period.
St Elizabeth is slowly becoming the safest parish in Jamaica with 10 ten murders, down from 14 at the same stage in 2017. Portland has the fewest homicides with 9 but has seen an increase from last year’s 5.
Trelawny and St Thomas with 18 are tied third for the fewest murders.
