Montego Bay, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Funeral Bus Shooting Tragedy: The Freeport police in Montego Bay, St James, are now carrying out investigations into the shooting death of a 53-year-old woman who was shot and killed, and four other persons shot and injured on Sunday night while they were traveling home from a funeral in Orange District. The police say an AK-47 Rifle along with 16 live rounds and an abandoned motorcycle was seized at the scene.

Dead is Jacqueline Bowen of Sign Orange also in St James.

Another woman and three men who were traveling in the same vehicle were also shot and seriously injured. They have since been admitted to the Cornwall Regional Hospital in serious condition.

The Freeport police report that about 7:30 pm on Sunday, all five victims were traveling in a coaster bus coming from a funeral of a female cancer victim.

Funeral Bus ShootingOn reaching a section of the Orange main road, a motorcycle with two men on board pulled up beside the bus, both men brandished high powered weapons and open fire on the bus.

All five person received gunshot wounds and were rushed to the hospital where Bowen was pronounced dead and the others admitted to hospital.

The Freeport police were summoned and upon arrival, the scene was processed.  The gunmen had already fled the scene on the motorcycle.

Swift actions by the police and JDF soldiers led to a search of the area and the seizure of the AK 47 rifle along with the abandoned motorcycle.
