New York (Mckoy’s New) –Ex-Cop Wanted for Murder : Mwando Lloyd Pryce, Jamaican ex-policeman facing charges in Jamaica for attempted murder, robbery and wounding with intent, is now in U.S. immigration custody, after years of hiding outside in America to avoid procecution.
Thirty-one-year-old Pryce was apprehended in Novemeber, in New York by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and is now held for deportion to Jamaica.
According to ICE, Pryce was admitted to the US legally with a non-immigrant visa in August 2009, with authorization to remain in the United States until February 7, 2010. However, in August 2015, Interpol issued a Red Notice for Pryce for crimes committed while he was a police constable in Jamaica; on information that Pryce was a fugative of Jamaica, still in the United States. In August ICE said agents at ERO headquarters, in Washington DC advised their counterparts in New York that Pryce may be living in the New York City metropolitan area.
Thomas R Decker, field office director for ERO New York, made note that “Even with the difficulties of working in a ‘sanctuary’ city, ICE will not allow violent criminals to seek refuge from prosecution within our borders.”
Pryce, an ex-cop wanted for murder in Jamaica was arrested by ERO deportation officers in Bronx, New York, on immigration charges and was issued a “Notice to Appear” before an immigration judge. He is currently in ICE custody pending removal proceedings.
