Montego Bay, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – Freeport Jail Re-opened: The Freeport Police Station jail in Montego Bay has re-opened since it was shut down in January 2017 by the Health Department, for insect and pest infestation.
The 30 cell facility which is the main police lock-up in the second city underwent sterilisation before it was allowed to re-open.
At a press conference in the Freeport station last week, Donovan Graham, Assistant Commissioner of Police for Area One revealed that the conditions at the lock-up were improved over the past 11 months.
ACP Graham state that the closure of the facility affected the timely arrival of prisoners from the Western Regional Gun Court.
The Jail return to full operation last in November.
