Montego Bay, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News)Freeport Jail Re-opened: The Freeport Police Station jail in Montego Bay has re-opened since it was shut down in January 2017 by the Health Department, for insect and pest infestation.

The 30 cell facility which is the main police lock-up in the second city underwent sterilisation before it was allowed to re-open.

At a press conference in the Freeport station last week, Donovan Graham, Assistant Commissioner of Police for Area One revealed that the conditions at the lock-up were improved over the past 11 months.

ACP Graham state that the closure of the facility affected the timely arrival of prisoners from the Western Regional Gun Court.
