Jamaica News, April 3, 2018 – Freak Accident Kills Cyclist in Westmoreland
Westmoreland, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – The Ramble police say they are still carrying out investigations to determine if criminal charges should be laid against a truck driver, who was involved in a freak accident which resulted in the death of an elderly man, along a section of the Ramble main road in Hanover on Friday, March 30.
He has been identified as George McKay of Marshall Road, Haddo District in Westmoreland.
Reports are that about 5:00 p.m. on Friday, McKay was riding his bicycle along the Ramble main road in the direction of Haddo community. On reaching the vicinity of a Jerk Centre, the driver of an Isuzu truck lost control on the wet slippery surface and the vehicle skidded across the roadway.
The truck then crashed into McKay on his bicycle, which resulted in him sustaining head and body injuries.
He was rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigations are now still being carried out to determine the fate of the truck driver.
