France is Through to Sunday’s World Cup Final

Jamaica Sports News: 1998 winners France are through to their third world cup final in 20 years, after beating previously unbeaten Belgium 1-0 in a crunch semifinal game in St.Petersburg on Tuesday.

Both teams showed one change each coming into the game and after a goalless first half in which the Belgians dominated territorially, the game opened up in the second half.

However, it was France who took the lead when Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti rose highest to head home a spot-kick on 51 minutes.

Both teams canceled each other out for the rest of the game, both creating scoring chances but France held on for the win and will now travel to Moscow on Sunday for the grand finale

They await the winners of semifinal two between 1966 champions England and 1998 semifinalist Croatia to be played in Moscow on Wednesday.
