Four of Five Men Caught with Illegal Firearms at Popular Guest House in Montego Bay to Appear in Gun Court Today

Jamaica Crime News, St James: Four of the five men who were held with two illegal firearms and several rounds of ammunition, at a popular resort in Montego Bay, St James on Friday morning, September 28, were slapped with charges on the weekend and will appear in the Western Regional Gun Court in the parish on Thursday morning, October 11.

The investigators say all five men have been charged jointly for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, but one of the accused will not face the court today, as he will be placed before an identification parade, to answer to other criminal charges.

The police say this particular gunman was featured in a shooting incident in Spring Mount community in later September and other incidents which have taken place in the Spring Mount policing area.

Reports by the police are that about 5:45 a.m.,  the police acted upon information received, went to the Hotel Gloriana and carried out an operation.

During the operation,  a search was carried out of two rooms, which led to the arrest of the  five male who were been sought by the police.

One Chrome Colt 45 pistol fitted with a magazine containing 18 live rounds and a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol which was also loaded with 18 live rounds.

The investigators at the time of the incident pointed out that one of the men was being sought in connection with several shooting incidents which occurred in Spring Mount, St James.

The other men were being sought for various crimes committed in Spring Mount and Cambridge areas.

One police officer told our news team that this incident has sent a shock wave throughout the St. James policing Division and this is based on the fact that the resort where the five gunmen were held is located almost adjacent the Summit Police Station, along Sunset Boulevard.
