Montego Bay, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Man Fined $150,000 For Having Forged British Passport: A Westmoreland man, who reportedly arrived in the island on a forged British passport last Wednesday, was fined $150,000 in the St. James Parish Court on Wednesday.
Donald Fitzroy Thomas, 46, of Petersfield, Westmoreland was fined by presiding judge Sandria Wong-Small after pleading guilty to uttering a forged document.
Thomas, who has been residing in England for over 20 years, arrived in the island on July 26, 2017, at the Sangster International Airport.
The accused man, who has been on the Immigration Watch List, was being processed when immigration officers detected the name Donald Dennis Thomas in their database. As a result, he was further interviewed and it was verified that he was the same person.
When questioned, Thomas told the authorities that he had obtained the document in England and that the person who got it for him proceeded to change his middle name and that he did not know why the person did it.
In passing sentence on Wednesday, judge Wong-Small ordered Thomas to pay a fine of $150,000 or serve six months in prison.
