The St James Municipal Corporation and the Jamaica Cultural Development Corporation held a Floral Tribute on Wednesday, May 23rd in Honor of National Hero, Samuel Sharpe. The event was held near the statue in Sam Sharpe Square and attended by 80 guests which included several Councilors and Member of Parliament, Heroy Clarke. The chairman was Councilor Dwight Crawford.
Mayor Homer Davis gave the welcome and remarks speech, which was followed by an overview by Natalie Morris regional manager for the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission. Member of Parliament for Central St James, Heroy Clarke delivered the Prime Minister’s message. Contestants in the Miss St James Festival Queen competition was also on hand as guests of the JCDC.
