Jamaica News, March 5, 2018 – Flankers Men Detained Following Illegal Firearm Seizure

St James, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Several men were detained and an illegal 9-mm semi-automatic pistol loaded with four live rounds seized at a premises in Flankers, St James on Sunday afternoon, March 4.

The Freeport police reported that about 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, a joint military team and members of the Caribbean Search Centre, carried out an operation at a section of Seaview Heights in Flankers.

During the operation, the security team carried out the search of a roof and this resulted in the discovery of a Ruger 9-mm semi-automatic pistol, loaded with four live 9-mm rounds.

Over a dozen men from the community were taken into custody and transported to the Freeport Station for processing.

It is understood that a number of the men were taken into custody to be questioned in connection with the seizure of the illegal weapons.
