Five Persons Shot and Injured by Gunmen at Football Match in Manchester

Jamaica Crime News, Manchester: The Mandeville police have now launched an investigation surrounding the shooting and wounding of five persons, including four students, during a football match in New Greens, Manchester on Thursday, afternoon, May 30.

Reports by the Mandeville police are that shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, all five victims were among dozens of spectators at a football match, which was being held at Bethel Street, in New Greens, Manchester.

Minutes later, a motor car with three men on board drove to the area, the men alighted from the vehicle armed with high-powered weapons. They then opened fire on the crowd and sped away in the waiting motorcar.

After the gunmen left, it was discovered that all five persons, four of whom are students had been shot.

One male adult from the community and four teenagers who attend the Crosskeys, Bellefield and Mile Gully High schools, received multiple gunshot wounds and were transported to the Mandeville hospital, where they were treated and admitted in serious condition.
