Jamaica Crime News: The Frome police, in the parish of Westmoreland, have confirmed that the five men, who were taken into custody in connection with the seizure of two illegal firearms on Saturday night of July 7th, have now been officially charged.
The investigators stated that the men have since been charged with Illegal possession of firearm and ammunition but their identities are being withheld as they may have to face a series of investigations parades.
Reports by the Frome police are that, shortly after 8:00 pm, on Saturday, a team of officers were carrying out patrols duties along a section of the Frome main road when they signaled two men who were travelling on a motorcycle to stop.
A search was carried out of the men’s person which led to the seizure of a Smith and Wesson 9mm semi-automatic pistol loaded with five live 9mm rounds which was taken from the pillion.
Both men were taken into custody and an investigation carried out. The investigation then led to a secondary operation been carried out at the home of the pillion which led to the seizure of a .380 Smith and Wesson pistol loaded with one live round.
Three other men who were at the house at the time of the seizure were also taken into custody and subsequently charged. In the meanwhile, the police High Command have since commended the Frome police on being very vigilant in their work which have resulted in the seizure of the two illegal firearms and the arrest of the five men.
