Kingston, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Fire Claims Settlement in Kingston: Firefighters in the corporate area spent close to an hour trying to contain a huge fire that destroyed two houses in Downtown, Kingston last Friday.

According to reports, five units from the corporate area attempted to put out the blaze as a large settlement in the vicinity of East Street, blazed in the afternoon sun.

Eyewitnesses say members of the public saw smoke coming from the vicinity of the settlement and summoned the Jamaica Fire Brigade. Although the Fire department responded quickly, it was not enough to save the homes of about 25 individuals who have now been left out in the cold this December.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. The Kingston and St. Andrew Police are investigating.
