Female Clothes Vendor Murdered in Sam Sharpe Square, 2 Men Injured

Jamaica Crime News, Montego Bay: A female clothes vendor was shot and killed, and two men shot and injured by a lone gunman in Sam Sharpe Square in Montego Bay , St James on Saturday night, May 5.

The deceased woman has been identified as Volda Keller, otherwise called “Olga” of 12 1/2 Upper Kings Street ( Canterbury) .

The injured victims are said to be a 42-year- old man of Murray Hill in Adelphi and a 52-year-old laborer of Capital Heights in Green Pond.

Reports are that shortly after 9:15 p.m. on Sunday, Keller was at her clothes stall in the Sam Square, in the busy downtown area of Montego Bay.

She was approached by a man dressed in a hoody shirt who brandished a handgun and fired several shots hitting her multiple times to her upper body.

The two men who were among a group of persons standing in the vicinity were also shot by the gunman’s bullets.

The gunman then made his escape on foot in the vicinity of Lawrence Lane.

The Barnett Street police were summoned and upon arrival, all three wounded persons were rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where Keller was pronounced dead and the other two victims treated and admitted in serious but stable condition.
