Farmer Held with Illegal Firearm in St Catherine

Jamaica Crime News, St Catherine: A St Catherine farmer was taken into custody following the seizure of an illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition, at a restaurant in Linstead on Tuesday afternoon, September 25.

The name of the accused farmer is being withheld pending further investigations.

Reports by the Linstead police are that about 1:00 p.m., the police carried out an operation at a restaurant in Linstead.

During the operation, a restaurant was searched and the illegal weapon, a Detonic 9mm semi-automatic pistol, fitted with a magazine containing six 9mm cartridges were found.

Further search of the establishment, led to the discovery of a bag containing nine 9mm cartridges.
