Liverpool are leaders on goal difference, as goals by Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino helped them to a 2-1 win away to Leicester City, for whom Rachid Ghezzal scored a consolation.
Second half goals from Pedro and Eden Hazard, were enough for Chelsea to ease past AFC Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge, with only goal difference separating them and Liverpool at the top.
Watford then produced the result of the weekend, they upset Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Vicaridge road, thanks to goals from Troy Deeney and Craig Cathcart.
Meanwhile Manchester united rebounded from two straight defeats to beat Burnley 2-1 away, with Romeo Lukaku bagging both goals.
Arsenal made it two wins in a row as goals from Shkodran Mustafi, Pierre-Emerica Aubameyang and Alexande Lacazete, carried them to a 3-2 win over Cardiff in Wales.
Elsewhere, champions Manchester City turned back Newcastle United 2-1 at the Etihad, on the backs of goals from Raheem sterling and Kyle walker. Everton and Huddersfield shared points In a 1-1 draw, Southampton beat Crystal Palace 2-0, while West Ham remain rooted to the foot of the table without a point, after Wolverhampton Wanderers handed them a fourth straight defeat, 1-0 in London.
