Jamaica Crime News, Hanover: Residents living in Elgin Town, Lucea, Hanover, are now reporting that they still cannot come to grips with the brutal slaying of a mother and her son in the community on Wednesday night, August 15.
A number of residents say they are now very concerned, as this is the first such incident to take place at that section of the community called Binns Lane.
They say it comes as a shock to know that the gunmen who were heavily armed, were so brazen to launch such an attack on their community.
40-year-old Carlene Graver and her son 26-year-old son Uton Cocket, otherwise called “Bigga” were shot multiple times by the armed men.
Another man who is said to be in his early forties was also shot and injured during the incident, and is presently being treated at hospital.
Reports by the police are that about 9:15 p.m., the woman and her son, along with the other man, were at their house in Binns Lane, Elgin Town, when the group of armed men armed with high-powered weapons entered the yard.
The gunmen opened fire on all three victims, hitting them to their upper bodies.
The gunman then made his escape on foot in the area, while family members and other residents living in the yard alerted the police.
Upon arrival of the lawmen, the mother and her son along with the other man were discovered suffering from gunshot wounds.
They were rushed to the Noel Holmes hospital where they were pronounced dead and the wounded man admitted in stable condition.
Our news team also learned from community members that Crocket had been before the Lucea Parish Court and during his last appearance he was placed under curfew orders by the judge.
This made him a very easy target by the gunmen who knew he had to be in his yard by a certain time.
