Jamaica Crime News: The Area One police say they have now stepped up patrols and police presence within a number of Western communities, following eight persons being brutally murdered within fifteen days.
These murders have taken place in the parishes of Hanover, Westmoreland and St. James, with the two most recent murders taking place within in the parishes of St James and Hanover on Tuesday, January 15.
The victims who were both gunned down by unknown assailants have been identified as 38-year-old, Amar Anthony Watkins, otherwise called “Lizard ” a shop keeper and Tattoo artist of Salt Spring Road in St James and 23-year-old, Kevon Cunningham, laborer of Montpellier in Sandy Bay, Hanover.
Watkins was shot and killed shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, outside his gate along Salt Spring main road, while Cunningham was shot multiple times by gunmen, while walking along a section of the Montpellier main road, shortly after 9:00 p.m.
Two men have been murdered in the parish of St James since the start of the year, two have also been killed in Westmoreland, while the parish of Hanover has recorded four murders.
