Jamaica News, St Andrew: Residents of some East Rural St Andrew communities are expressing concern that road and other infrastructure they were promised might not be delivered in time.
According to an Access To Information document we obtained, the road work taking place along the Guava Ridge to Content Gap was scheduled to end on July 27 this year.
However, residents say that up to last week no work was being done.
They are concerned that a missed timeline will coincide with the increased rainfall in the rainy season-thus undoing whatever work has already been done.
Additionally, some residents are restive over the dust nuisance due to the ongoing work and are said to be planning protest action if their concerns are not addressed in a timely fashion.
So far 3 of 6 retaining walls are completed while most of the roadway has only been graded off.
The project is being done at a cost of 146 million dollars. The main contractor is China Harbour Engineering Company CHEC.
