Jamaica Crime News, St James: A man who reportedly brandished a high-powered weapon, after being under the influence of alcohol, was shot and killed by a group of men in Flankers community in St James on Monday afternoon, September 17.
The deceased has been identified as Courtney Clarke, 51-year-old Caretaker who resided temporarily at Corbet Drive (Rifle Lane) also in Flankers.
Reports by the Montego Bay, Freeport police are that about 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Clarke who was the caretaker for a premises located at Corbet Drive, got drunk and later got involved in an argument with a group of men in the area.
It is further disclosed that Clarke in his drunken state, threatened the men and left the scene in a rage.
He later returned with a high-powered rifle and again threatened the men. Some minutes later, loud explosions were heard and Clarke was discovered suffering from gunshot wounds.
The police were summoned and upon arrival, the scene was processed and Clarke was transported to the Cornwall Regional hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The police say they are now in search of the men and also to locate the high-powered rifle.
