Latest Jamaica News, Montego Bay: The St. Thomas man who was involved in a hit-and-run that claimed the life of two-year-old Sasha-Gaye Dennis and injured her 10-year-old sister in Montego Bay, St James in April, is to face a committal hearing on October 15.
Twenty-one-year-old Max Desouza of Sunning Hill in St. Thomas is facing a charge of causing death by dangerous driving.
He was given the committal hearing date following a brief appearance in the St. James Parish Court on Thursday, July 18. His bail was extended.
Reports are that about 7 p.m. on April 23, the two sisters, their mother and two other siblings were crossing a section of Howard Cooke Boulevard in Montego Bay, when the two sisters were hit down by a Nissan Note motorcar which did not stop.
The two girls were taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where the two-year-old was pronounced dead and her sister was admitted in a serious condition.
The driver sped away from the scene, but later surrendered to the Morant Bay police, and was transferred to St James where he was subsequently charged.
